CHC Reorganization in Franklin

By  |

A facility which provides medical care for minor illnesses and injuries is set to close at the end of this month.

The Franklin Urgentcare opened in the fall of 2000, later moving to its current location during the summer of 2001. Although business has been steady, officials say the greater need is for specialty services.

Currently, The Medical Center at Franklin offers physician specialty services in cardiology, general surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, oncology, orthopedics and psychiatry on scheduled days. Officials say they're now able to add urology and pulmonology to the list of services offered.

The Urgentcare facility will no longer be an option to Simpson County residents beginning July 1, 2003. Persons seeking medical attention during odd hours will be directed to the hospital's emergency room.

Currently, Commonwealth Health Corporation operates Urgentcare facilities in Scottsville, Morgantown, Russellville and Bowling Green.
