Today marked the kickoff of the United Way of Southern Kentucky’s Annual Fundraising Campaign.
Hundreds of volunteers, supporters, and funded agencies from United Way came out to Bowling Green to celebrate fifty years of United Way’s service to the community with a fifties sock hop.
The organization also announced a goal of two-million dollars that will be given to five counties served by United Way.
United Way chairman, Tommy Adams states, “The mission of United Way is to be a leader in bringing together resources, resources in our community to help individuals and it’s very important that the money that we raise is going to go back to these agencies and in the end will go back to help individuals in each of these counties.”
Individual county goals:
Allen Co.: $97,000
Barren Co.: $250,000
Logan Co.: $193,000
Simpson Co.: $90,000
Warren Co.: $1,450,000
This years Community Solutions Campaign will run through October to help the five counties involved, meet their individual goals.
