Now that Congressman Brett Guthrie is representing Kentucky in the Second Congressional District, his old senate seat must be filled.
Thursday night we introduced you to J. Marshall Hughes, the Republican candidate choosen to run in the special election on February 10.
We now take a look at the Democratic candidate.
It was a unanimous vote that led to his first run at a public office, and local attorney, Mike Reynolds, says he has what it takes to serve the 32nd District.
"For over 40 years, I've helped good candidates get elected, but I think I have a lot of new ideas that I could take to Frankfort," said Reynolds.
When asked to speak to the Democratic Executive Committees gathered from both Warren and Butler counties, he laid out his main goals if elected.
"Retain the jobs that we currently have in Bowling Green, Morgantown, Warren and Butler Counties, to bring more jobs to the table, and secondly, to help the education system move forward and get the funding they need," said Reynolds.
As far as our economy, Reynolds says higher education is where Kentucky must combat economic issues, by increasing education levels and keeping students from going out-of-state.
"This community grows with the increased enrollment at Western Kentucky University, and if we can help Western, they will be and are the driving force behind that quartile of our economy here in Warren County," said Reynolds.
He says he has experience in helping his community by serving on boards and commissions on the local, state, and nationl levels, and he adds he's been in private law since 1972, which has led him to see what our area stands for.
"And I'll take that to Frankfort, and I'll bring it back with more attainment for our area," said Reynolds.
Shannon Morgan, the Chair of the Warren County Democratic Party, says he is proud of the candidate they have selected and adds Reynolds is an honorable man and has lived and worked in Warren County his entire life.
