Increasing Costs for Insurance Benefits

By Associated Press |

Public school teachers and state employees will have to pay more for their insurance benefits beginning next year.

State Personnel Secretary Brian Crall says employee contributions for family coverage will increase by about six percent.

Frances Steenbergen, president of the Kentucky Education Association, says that's an increase of about $25 a month for most employees who pay for coverage for spouses and children.

Steenbergen says her organization is still asking questions.

Charles Wells is the executive director of the Kentucky Association of State Employees.

He says the increase was less than in some previous years.
