Congressman Brett Guthrie is one of 30 House Republicans sitting in the 75-member Transportation and Infrastructure Committee in the new congress.

Monday, we caught up with Congressman Guthrie during his visit to a Rotary Club meeting in Horse Cave.

There, he told WBKO, the transportation bill will include improvements throughout I-65 in addition to further encouragements for people to use transit systems and other alternative transportations.

Congressman Guthrie says debt has become a big concern.

"If you're going to use debt to build a road that my grandchildren will drive on, since they're the ones paying for it, it's beneficial," he explains. "Just putting debt into the economy just to consume and have our grandchildren pay for it, that concerns me. It's something I'm going to be very careful about with the overall stimulus bill."

Congressman Guthrie adds another regional airport is an idea he'll be looking into at some time in the distant future.
