It's the opportunity of a lifetime and one little girl will live it.
Eleven-year-old Linnie Shell and her mother, Dana Bradley, will witness first-hand President-Elect Barack Obama's inauguration.
Bradley is a professor at Western Kentucky University.
It was just last week, Senator Mitch McConnell's office released two tickets to the event through WKU.
Bradley and her daughter were selected, and the rest is history in the making.
"I like learning about history and it's not often that you get to live it," assured Linnie Shell, a 6th grader at Bowling Green Junior High School.
Eleven-year-old Linnie Shell loves to read.
She's a straight-A student, and is getting the chance to experience something not every 6th grader will.
"We're going to go see the inauguration," she said.
Next week, Linnie and her mother will be among the millions of people watching as President-Elect Barack Obama is sworn in.
"This is an historic swearing-in ceremony to be sure, but any inauguration is a cool experience and we thought it would be neat to be there," said Dana Bradley, Linnie's mother.
"I'm really glad America has taken the steps to elect a black president. I think that's really cool and I want to be there for that," her daughter added.
While preps are well underway in Washington, Linnie and Dana have their own.
They're planning to write about and share their experiences in an online blog.
"Some people are only going to see this on the TV screen, so it'll be nice to give them an impression of what actually happened," Shell said.
"We have a responsibility to share this experience with whomever wants to read about it and listen to our views," her mother said.
It will be a day, one not to be forgotten, especially for a 6th grader.
Because in the eyes of an eleven-year-old, the future is forever.
"I hope when she has her own children and grandchildren, she'll be able to tell them about this experience," Bradley said.
Both Dana and Linnie say they're still working to come up with a name for their web blog.
Dana says they're hoping to use technology supported by WKU, allowing them to share their experiences online.
