A Todd County Central High School teacher has pled ‘not guilty’ to rape charges.

Ben Drummond appeared for his arraignment before Judge Sue Carol Browning Monday, in Todd County District Court.

Drummond was arrested last Thursday and charged with third degree rape.

He was taken to the Muhlenberg County Detention Center where he was released on a $20,000 dollar bond.

Kentucky State Police say the alleged relationship between Drummond and the victim began in June of 2004 when she was 15-years-old.

In a news conference on Elkton's Square last Friday, Drummond's attorney said they have not been told the identity of the victim, but have been told she signed a written statement that a relationship never took place.

Drummond will be back in court September 18th for a preliminary hearing.

He remains suspended with pay from his duties as history teacher and boys’ soccer coach at Todd Central High.
