The 25-percent increase in military recruitment since Sept. 11, 2001 and that surge has continued long past the end of major conflict in the war with Iraq.
"A lot of the advertising, some of the events that are shown on TV and the publicity that the Army is given allowed a lot of the young men and women to look at the military as an option more so, and as a career," said SFC Bruce Coslet, Bowling Green Recruiting Station Commander.
Coslet has been a recruiter since 1995, and says a new marketing campaign and an updated recruitment process that reflects Internet and email technology, coupled with newfound patriotic enthusiasm have created a push for armed service recruitment.
Coslet also says he expects the currently high level of sign-ups to continue through this year because of a sagging economy, and the financial benefits the military has to offer.
