Ernesto Landfall

It’s raining in Southern Florida which can be a telling sign that Tropical Storm Ernesto is on the way but residents aren’t taking any chances.

The tropical storm is set to make landfall later tonight. Although Ernesto lost strength passing over Cuba its potentially heavy rains still have authorities worried.

Meterologist Bill Evans says, “We expect there to be a little strengthening, strengthening to take place tonight over the warm waters probably going from 45 to 65 miles per hour.”

Parts of Florida could get up to ten inches of rain. Emergency management officials say the main threat from Ernesto will be people who try to go surfing or drive around in the storm.
