Anhydrous Theft

Two Logan County men are in jail Monday and are being accused of stealing anhydrous from a farm supply company. Anhydrous is a fertilizer farmers use for corn and soybeans and an essential ingredient to making meth.

Twenty five year old Chris Watkins of Auburn and thirty three year old Anthony Bellamy of Russellville were arrested last night. The Logan County Sheriff's Department says the two were found stealing anhydrous from Southern States.

Logan County Sheriff, Wallace Whittaker, says these cases are becoming more common place with more than 70 percent of their cases being meth-related.

According to area Ag Extension Offices, Warren, Logan, and Simpson counties have the most problems with anhydrous theft. That's because farmers in those counties use the fertilizer more often for the corn and soybean crops in the area.
