Even though its a problem spread throughout the state, officials with Warren Rural Electric say the counties hardest hit in our area are Grayson, Butler, and northern Edmonson.
Officials in Butler county have seen single power lines in their area be repaired, just to break again in five different areas.
For one resident in Morgantown, the problem's not really the down power lines.
It's the limbs.
"It didn't start falling until after daylight," says Alivin P. Jones.
Alvin's been thinking about cutting down the old tree in his front lawn for ten years.
Tuesday morning, work started without his help.
"The good Lord took care of it!" he laughs.
Alvin had been watching his branches, thinking they might fall during the ice storm.
To be on the safe side, he pulled his truck up a few feet.
Limbs still toppled on top of it.
"The limbs broke down on of it, broke off with the ice, and she's really been popping around here," he explains.
Alvin's truck isn't the only thing that's been hit by the falling limbs.
"One of these limbs fell on top of me!" he laughs. "I've been running out here and dragging them out of the roads."
At least he's got power to his home, a convenience many in Butler county don't have.
"My boy over yonder ain't got no power now, and a lot of them don't have power," he says.
He's not counting on having power on Wednesday.
"It's supposed to be all rain tonight, but I think it's going to freeze back up," says Alvin.
He says if the power does go out, he knows where to find wood for heat.
"I'll work them up," he says. "Boy, I'll cut them up for wood. Take all the limbs out here and burn it."
Another tip from Warren Rural Electric is to limit the use of cell phone calls during this icy weather to reduce the load on networks.
They ask for this to be done so that emergency personnel can make needed calls.
