Wednesday morning's heavy rains forced state highway officials to shut down part of Russellville Road in Bowling Green. Barricades went up between the entrance to Whispering Hills subdivision and Dishman Lane.
Some of the merchants in the area felt the floods adversely affected their businesses. One businessman even called for the state to reroute Russellville Road's drainage system.
Greg Meredith, State Highway Chief District Engineer, says the state will correct the problem, but right now they don't have any money dedicated to the drainage project. He says they're looking at the most cost-effective way to correct the situation.
