A National Transportation Safety Board spokesman said the pilots of Comair flight 5191 did not call out the wrong flight number and city before the jet crashed in Lexington, Ky., last week.
NTSB spokesman Terry Williams said families were incorrectly told that one of the pilots gave the wrong flight number and said Toledo before attempting to take off.
Williams also said it was a mistake by the NTSB and apologized for the error.
The lone survivor, First Officer James Polehinke, remains in serious condition at a Lexington hospital and will be hospitalized for several more weeks
