The state has made a management change at Kentucky’s largest and most troubled center for mentally-challenged adults. The "communities at Oakwood" in Somerset will be run by the Bluegrass Regional Mental Health-Mental Retardation Board. Today state officials announced Bluegrass agreed to a $56 million contract. The agreement pushes out Liberty Healthcare, which had a 12 month contract to manage the facility, and try to improve conditions. Bluegrass already has a contract to manage a psychiatric hospital in Lexington. Parents and patient advocates say "Oakwood’s" switch to Bluegrass is a welcome change.
