A spokesman for the Defense Prisoner of War Missing Personnel Office says there are 88,000 U.S. service members missing from the nation’s wars. To honor and remember those who are still missing a special flag-raising ceremony was held in Bowling Green, Ky., today.
Chaplin, Edwin Phelps said, “We are pleased today to raise a flag underneath the American flag so we will always remember to never forget the thousands missing in action and prisioners of war.”
The Bowling Green-Warren County Military Affairs Office also announced the third Friday in September will be the official day to recognize prisoners of war and those missing in action.
