The local chapter of the American Red Cross is making an appeal for blood and funds.
The Executive Director of the Bowling Green Area Chapter says the organization is running on fumes. The local chapter assists those military families in need of assistance, as well as fire victims. It provides area families with food, shelter and clothing for several days following a fire. A large number of fires, fewer donations and a number of disasters nationwide have helped in draining accounts.
In addition, the nation's blood banks are asking for immediate blood donations to boost an already critically low supply. The number of people hitting the road this summer seems to be playing a significant factor in several ways. As many Kentuckians go on vacation, they often forget about donating blood. Also, as the number of folks traveling increases, so do the number of life-threatening accidents.
If you would like to help by giving the gift of life or financially, the Bowling Green Area Chapter would like to hear from you.
