A Kentucky Lawmaker says schools need to establish policies on student searches or risk losing Federal Funds.
The U.S. House passed a bill last night that would require the search rules.
Representative Geoff Davis says the measure would help curb violence.
The bill says the policies implemented by school boards should say searches must be conducted by a full-time teacher or school official.
They must be acting on a reasonable suspicion that a student has weapons, drugs, or other dangerous material.
The bill says search methods can't be "excessively intrusive."
