The University District Review Committee voted Tuesday to re-certify all 21 campus organizations under its jurisdiction. Since 1990, the committee has been charged with ensuring that fraternities, sororities and campus religious organizations with their own houses/facilities abide by city building and fire codes, and are good neighbors to the surrounding community.
Each group is required to be re-certified once a year through a documentation plan that includes neighbor surveys, a list of police call responses to the property, and reports by code inspectors.
17 of the 21 groups must correct minor code violation problems within 30 days to ensure their recertification.
