Around 1pm Wednesday, Leitchfield Police responded to a call of a robbery at the Bank Of Clarkson on South Main Street.

"Through our investigation it appears to be somebody in their middle to late 20s, approximately 6 feet tall, around 200 pounds, wearing a plaid shirt and blue jeans, had a black scarf and toboggan," says Leitchfield Detective Gary Troutman.

Surveillance photos were taken during the robbery.

First, the robber enters through the front door and heads to a teller.

Then asks for money and then leaves the bank through the same front doors.

Troutman says the whole incident took about a minute and no one was hurt during the robbery.

"No injuries. The person did not threaten anybody or show any weapons. He just asked the teller to give him the money. The teller co-operated and the subject left," says Det. Troutman.

Det. Troutman says the thief then went around to the back of the bank where and left in a vehicle.

"At this time, there may be a possible white pickup truck that the subject left in. We don't know that yet. Its too early in the investigation," he notes.

And Troutman says Wednesday's robbery might not be an isolated incident. He's currently working with the FBI and other local law enforcement to find out if the same person who hit this bank is also responsible for other robberies in the area.

Police were able to recover some of the money that the robber attempted to steal, but there is an undetermined amount of money the robber was able to escape with.

Leitchfield Police are asking anyone with any information on this robbery please call them at (270) 259-4980.
