A woman accused of leaving her baby boy in an outhouse is convicted of murder.
A Grayson County Jury returned its verdict at 2:31 pm Tuesday afternoon... in the case of 38 year old Kathy Harless, the woman accused of leaving her newborn in an outhouse at Bratcher's Flea Market in Leitchfield in 2001.
The jury found Harless guilty of murder, and guilty of tampering with evidence.
Two misdemeanor charges, concealing a birth and abuse of a corpse-- were dismissed yesterday.
Jurors recommended that Harless receive life in prison for the murder conviction, and for the conviction of tampering with evidence, they recommended she receive 5 years, to run concurrently with the life sentence. Both penalties are the maximum allowed.
Kathy Harless is scheduled to be formally sentenced in Judge Sam Monarch's courtroom in the Grayson County Justice Center on November 4th at 1 p.m.
