An area county’s police department and sheriff department is merging.
The Christian County Fiscal Court voted to merge the departments yesterday.
Police in Christian County were generally responsible for handling cases involving juveniles, abuse cases and sex crimes. The sheriff’s department handled the majority of the normal policing duties.
Officials say there will not be a change in how the county handles crime.
