Soldier Will Be Laid to Rest Monday

Funeral arrangements have been set for a Western Kentucky Soldier who died in Iraq.

Services for 20-year-old Corporal Windell Simmons will be at 1 p.m. Oct. 2, 2006, at gamble funeral home in Hopkinsville, Ky., with U.S. Army Chaplain Jimmy Mmith officiating.

Graveside services will follow at the Kentucky Veterans West Cemetery in Hopkinsville, Ky.

Military officials said Simmons died of injuries he suffered on Sept. 23, 2006 in Iraq, when a roadside bomb detonated near his vehicle during combat operations.
