McConnell Dedicates Water System

US Senator Mitch McConnell dedicated Mammoth Cave National Park’s new water system today. The park says this is also Kentucky’s first regional sewer system.

Senator McConnell says he’s helped secure over four million dollars the last few years to improve the sewer system surrounding Mammoth Cave. He says we need to be worried about the quality of the water in the cave and preserving the cave for the long haul.

“We’ve got to make sure that contaminated water doesn’t continue to make it into the cave thereby destroying one of the great natural wonders of the world,” McConnell said

Both the water and sewer system are both installed and operated by the Caveland Environmental Authority. The regional sewer system will serve Horse Cave, Cave City, Park City and Mammoth Cave National Park. Senator McConnell was also at a ribbon cutting for Western’s new transportation facility today.
