Warren County's Clerk, Dot Owens, said she would like the voters to know that even though the job of clerk is demanding she wants to continue to serve the citizens of Warren County, Ky.
"I am a hard worker, I've been here for 30 years I know pretty well the office inside and out, I do want them to understand I will continue to give good service," Owens said.
Velma Runner, Owens opponent for the clerk seat, also knows the importance of the position and the employees that work in the clerk's office.
"I think that the employees, they are a big asset, they do have that experience, and I see the clerk's position as an administrative position. Although I would want hands on and be a visible clerk," Runner said.
Owens also said she has spent her term in office cleaning up the different records departments. "This past three years I've been organizing the departments to make it more customer friendly."
Runner said if elected she would like to expand the on-line services the office provides. She also said if she is elected employees would not need to worry about being laid off.
"I do appreciate their experience, any employee would still have a job should I become clerk. But we do have several employees in the clerks office that are close to retirement and I believe that would open it up for new positions when the new clerk is in," Runner said.
According to both Owens and Runner, the clerks office is responsible for the record keeping of the county. Owens said among the jobs of the Court Clerk is vehicle registration. She said every year her office registers approximately 94,000 vehicles.
