Now that the Transpark project is underway, state and local officials are working hard to recruit the first business to the site.
One of the prospects is Magna International, Inc. Magna is the world's seventh-largest auto parts maker and is headquartered in Canada. The Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority issued a statement Thursday saying Magna has filed an application for the Transpark and is currently undergoing negotiations.
If recruited to the Transpark, Magna's proposed facility would encompass 860,000 square feet and create at least 300 new jobs paying $12-$18 per hour.
Magna currently employs 71,000 people at 253 sites worldwide. Their parts are used by a variety of automakers, including BMW, Ford, and Saab.
