It took no time at all for the city commissioners of Smiths Grove to unanimously approve a second reading against adult businesses there.
A first reading of the ordinance took place last Monday and commissioners called a special session this morning to quickly approve it.
Rumors of an adult bookstore being opened at the chevron in town were the cause for such an ordinance.
Vick Patel, new owner of Chevron, "I was angry at first when I heard it, but then it's kind of funny. We didn't nobody knew about this and we just heard it from outside. I mean there is no way we're gonna, it's not even a thought in our minds."
Brandon Porter, Pastor, Smiths Grove Baptist Church, "It may seem like they've just done it because of a rumor but this is something we've been talking to commissioners and people to try to get done for the last year and a half for protection's sake."
After the second reading the ordinance will now become law. Wednesday we'll take a look at how the city handled the reading of the ordinance.
