Rain on Homecoming

Western officials made the decision Friday afternoon to not go on with the homecoming parade along with Big Red's Roar and Street Fest.

Homecoming Chair for the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity says, “It's kind of disappointing no one's really going to be able to see it, [but] we can't take it down Big Red Way or anywhere. Judges will be the only ones seeing it."

Many Western organizations like the Sigma Alpha Epsilion Fraternity along with the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority spent nearly $1500 dollars to build floats expecting them to be on display in the homecoming parade.

Now however, the decision has been made that instead of a parade, the homecoming floats will be lined up on the Avenue of Champions starting at 10AM Saturday morning where they will be judged and left on display for those planning to tailgate.

Annual tailgating festivities will go on as planned on Saturday.

The Hilltopper Football Game kicks off is at 4PM at L.T. Smith Stadium.

You can join in the homecoming festivities that are still taking place rain or shine.

Friday night a comedy show will take place in the DUC theater at 8PM, featuring Tony Roberts and Spike Davis.

Saturday night the Step Show will be taking place in Diddle Arena at 8PM.
