Restaurant Sales Tax Possible in Bowling Green

By  |

Opponents of a possible restaurant tax are planning to fight it. If legislators approve a bill for second and third class cities to add a restaurant tax.

Bowling Green could vote to impose a one, two or three percent tax. Three percent would generate about $3 million. Seventy-five percent would go to the city and 25 percent to tourism.

Tourism officials say the money would be used to build an indoor sports venue, but some opponents argue it would be a white elephant.
