WKU Re-Emphasizes Crosswalk Safety

By  |

WKU officials and students are urging vigilance and caution around campus crosswalks in the wake of Monday night's accident involving a driver police say was intoxicated, and two student crosswalkers.

The crosswalk on University Boulevard where the accident happened was installed two years ago, and now includes red lights above the street designed to temporarily stop traffic.

Students we spoke to said they are being more cautious around crosswalks, and believe the university is doing its part to keep students safe. They say the responsibility for safety is shared by drivers and pedestrians alike, and continued vigilance and precaution on the part of crosswalkers will help prevent continued injury.
