Two days after a rustler made off with a life-sized statue of 1978 Triple Crown winner, Affirmed, the champion was found.
Kentucky State Police said they found the fiberglass statue of the horse with a jockey on its back in an apartment in Bowling Green, Ky., about 115 miles south of the Louisville, Ky., coffee company's headquarters where it was last seen.
Troopers said 21-year-old Brian G. Abell is charged with receiving stolen property for having the statue, valued at about $15,000, in his bedroom.
Abell is currently a student at Western Kentucky University.
The statue was taken from in front of John Conti Coffee Co.'s headquarters in Louisville. Louisville Metro Police, which took the report, said it was their first Gallopalooza theft.
Troopers said the statue is being returned to the coffee shop's headquarters and the investigation is ongoing.
