Two top Kentucky Democrats say they will not challenge Governor Fletcher in next year’s Governor’s race.
Louisville mayor, Jerry Abramson and state auditor, Crit Luallen have taken their names out of contention. Both were considering a run atop the Democratic slate for 2007.
Abramson said in a press release that he wanted to remain as Louisville’s leader, which he was re-elected to last week. Attorney General Greg Stumbo says he will make a decision on whether to run by December 1st.
Some Democrats have seen Fletcher as vulnerable after a 15-month investigation into his administration’s hiring activities.
