A Brescia University soccer player faces drug charges after a sting at his dorm room.

According to court documents, 22-year-old Shaban Yakubu Abdulkarim, of Bronx, N.Y., was charged with possession of a controlled substance with the intent to distribute after customs officials seized two packages containing brown and white heroin valued at between $80,000 and $90,000.

Officers from the federal Drug Enforcement Agency, the Street Crimes Unit at the Owensboro Police Department and the Daviess County Sheriff's Department received a package that contained heroin when it was opened by a customs agent in the United Kingdom. Police then delivered the package with look-alike drugs to Abdulkarim's address and watched until he came to pick it up.

Local officials said the drugs were not being sold in Owensboro, but were probably going to be transferred to a larger city.
