The University of Kentucky is taking action to ease a nursing shortage.
The University will double the number of students admitted into its nursing program next fall. Analysts expect Kentucky will need an additional 6,800 nurses by 2020.
UK's College of Nursing dean, Jane Kirschling, said qualified people have been turned away in the past because there weren't enough spots. She also said the academic standards required to join the program won't change.
