Education Grant to Help South-Central Kentucky School Districts

Some South-Central Kentucky students will soon be getting a fresh look at American History, thanks to a new grant from the federal government.

The United States Department of Education has awarded $990,827 to the Green River Regional Educational Cooperative, to help history teachers and students make the grade in American History.

The grant will enable 116 area teachers to receive training in teaching strategies, technology, document retrieval and integration, as well as allow them to participate in history expeditions and hands-on workshops.

The training these teachers receive will impact more than 6,000 students from elementary to high school levels. The grant has been awarded to the G.R.R.E.C. in behalf of nine school districts. Those include: Allen County, Barren County, Cloverport Independent, Daviess County, Glasgow Independent, Hart County, Logan County, Metcalfe County and Monroe County.
