Allen County Road Under Siege by Mud
Heas east and you'll find yourself in the sloping hills of Allen County. For one neighborhood just outside Scottsville, the sloping hills prove dangerous under heavy rains.

"Right now, it's nothing compared to when it rains. When it rains, it's ridiculous. It's slick. You have to drive slow and it just splashes mud everywhere," says Joseph Oliver.

When traveling to Scottsville, you might pass Ray Williams Road without a second glance. Only a few homes sit nestled off this back road, just of Highway 234.

Oliver says that, while you can go through the mud slow, its deep enough to get thrown-up on the windshield of your car.

For him and others alike, the road leading to his home has become hazardous for even the most high-profile of vehicles.

"We started out at Mastrick, just like we're supposed to. We went plum up to the County Judge," says Oliver.

"We've asked for five months to get something done and we just can't get no results."

With consecutive days of rainfall in the forecast this week, Joe, his wife and the rest of the neighborhood can't help but fear the highway that continues to wash away under their very feet.

"At a point where it's sloping-off, if you was to have to hit your brakes just a little bit, you might slide and slide right off that big bank," he says.

Oliver says a relatively inexpensive fix, such as large stone referred to as riff rock, maybe the solution to stopping the erosion and easing the fears of those traveling on Ray Williams Road.

Ask him and Joe says he would just like to see the road fixed.

We attempted to contact County Judge Executive Bobby Young. However, hew as unavailable. Another attempt will be made tomorrow to contact him regarding the matter.
