In Adventures in Kentucky, WBKO’s Brandon Lokits tries almost any adventure you can imagine. But tonight, Brandon looks at something that is a bit more leisurely.
Not all adventures have to be extreme. Sometimes attempting something new is an adventure in itself. An activity that fits this description is disc golf.
Its actually quite a bit like golf. There is a tee box, a fairway, and a hole or in this case, a basket. The largest difference is the disc or Frisbee. It sounds simple enough but it can be much more challenging than you would think. Luckily, I had Willy Marble from Nat’s, along with me to offer a few tips.
“I hold it with one and just let it sing off the edge. Yeah, try and throw it like this… Yeah, give it a whip,” Marble said as he threw his disk.
“Who throws first?” I had to ask.
“Well usually the guy who has won the last hole,” Marble explained.
“Alright, well then that means you’re up,” I said as I offered him his chance.
Overall, my disk golf skills are lacking. It seems the disk would never go where its supposed to.
There are as many discs in disc golf as there are clubs in normal golf. There are drivers, medium range discs and even a putter. Some discs turn left, others turn right and still others are designed to go straight. It’s a multi-purpose. Catches a little more air, floats a bit more so you can throw it a little harder toward the basket.
For me, this was certainly an adventure, but some things just aren’t meant to be.
