A Logan county mayor is cleared of assault charges in a shooting incident.
In Logan District Court this afternoon, Lewisburg mayor Kenneth Whitson's first degree assault case was amended down to fourth degree assault and the case was dismissed.
Sixty two-year-old Whitson had been accused of shooting 57-year-old Larry Lee in the leg with a 22-caliber rifle May 14th.
Lee's first degree criminal mischief charge was amended down to second degree, and also dismissed.
Court records indicate their dispute was over a woman.
