Less than a week before the 4th of July holiday, police are looking for the person responsible for stealing an American flag from a veteran's memorial.

The Horse Cave Police Department says the flag was stolen from the Main Street Cemetery late Saturday night or early yesterday morning.

It's an eight-foot by 12-foot flag that was removed from a 40-foot pole.

The veteran's memorial was donated to the city of Horse Cave by VFW Post 5906, which has only been there since November 2008.

Police are offering a 500-dollar cash reward for the return of the flag and information on this theft.

You can call the Horse Cave Police tipline at 834-0414.
