A Warren County, Ky., sheriff's D.A.R.E. officer gets national recognition for his work with an anti-drug program.

Captain Joe Jakub is one of six police officers honored at a ceremony today for their positive work in the community.

The VF Corporation's selection committee is comprised of top law enforcement leaders across the country.

The committee searches hundreds of nominees for the most daring acts of achievement.

Captain Jakub's development of the "Reach for Your Dreams" anti-drug program has attracted national attention and outreach for his commitment to inspire people to lead a drug-free life.

"You have to live it. It's not an eight-to-five job. You have to believe in what you are doing," Jakub said.

Captain Jakub has put together a dynamic group of people who are known as the "Dream Team." They travel the country sharing a drug-free message young and old alike.

The six Positive Force Award recipients get $500, a paid trip to the International Association of Chiefs of Police and a plaque.

Captain Jakub is the only officer from Ky. to receive the award.
