The Bowling Green, Ky., City Commission met for the final time this year and for the final time in the tenures of Commissioners Mark Alcott and Delaine Simpson.
The commission re-visited whether to demolish Kirtley's Furniture store in order to create more parking for the new Chamber of Commerce building.
Commissioner Mark Alcott suggested the Commission go ahead and honor their previous agreement to supply the Chamber with 40 parking spots without vacating Kirtley's until a plan to deal with the parking had been completed.
The Commission then voted to withdraw the order and not touch Kirtley's at this time.
"If we've got a piece of property that in tact without being encroached upon on parking then we can offer it for an R.F.P. to a developer to really take a look at building something we need down there such as housing," said Elaine Walker, mayor of Bowling Green.
The Commission will look at the parking situation again at their meeting in January 2007.
