Another person is dead and one Simpson County teen is in critical condition after a terrible accident that killed five people Monday afternoon. Police are still investigating a crash that happened on Gold City Road in Simpson County. They say an S.U.V. carrying seven people sped over the top of a hill and swerved into a hill. Simpson County Sheriff Gene Starks says speed is probably the contributing factor to the accident.
Four people were pronounced dead at the scene: the driver, 41-year-old Corey Donald Reed, his daughter 15-year-old Katelyn Reed, and his son 10-year-old Corey along with a friend 16-year-old O.J. Edison. Reed's 12-year-old daughter Sarah died at Vanderbilt Hospital.
One of the passengers Jeremy Sublet remains in critical condition in Vanderbilt Medical Center. Family members say he has suffered severe pelvic injuries. Another passenger, Brandon Russell, was released from the hospital last night. He has suffered a severe concussion.
Meanwhile, tomorrow afternoon from one until three grief counseling for the students will be available at the Simpson County High School library.
