A final sentencing is held for a man convicted in the deaths of a Simpson County couple in a drunk driving crash.
Gary Pentecost was convicted of two counts of second degree manslaughter in October 2006. He was found guilty in the November 2005 deaths of Jimmy and Shaleen Johnson of Franklin. The couple was hit while riding their motorcycle on highway 6880 near Fairview.
Wednesday, Dec. 20, in Christian Circuit Court, Judge John Atkins denied probation for Pentecost and followed the jury’s recommendation of seven-and-a-half years on each count, to be served consecutively for a total of 15 years.
Pentecost will be transferred from Christian County, to a federal prison to serve the remainder of his sentence.
