Kentucky Police say a Madisonville man lost control of his car while driving drunk and struck two women on a sidewalk - killing one.

Kentucky State Police said 20-year-old Erick Hendrix fled the scene after crashing in Madisonville last night, but later turned himself into police.

Police said 30-year old Lachelle Williams died as a result of her injuries at the scene, and 39-year old Thomasa Wallace was taken to the Regional Medical Center.

Police said after striking the women, the car crossed through a parking lot and struck a building and a utility pole.

Hendrix is being held on charges of murder, assault, and driving under the influence.

He is lodged in the Hopkins County Detention Center.
