BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- Saturday afternoon people braved the cold for a running event that benefits Toys for Tots.

Instead of the usual money, participants gave gifts as the entry fee to participate in the 4K run and obstacle course at Keriakes Park.

One hundred people attending, meaning 100 gifts were collected for children in need.

"Toys for Tots was formed in 1947 by a Marine Corp Reserve Officer, and we've been collecting toys nationwide and worldwide for all those years. We serviced over 5,400 kids here in Warren County last year," said Malcolm Cherry.

It was the second year for the event and organizers say they were pleased with the turnout.
