Hundreds gathered in Pike County Saturday as Kentucky State Trooper Jonathan Leonard was laid to rest.
Trooper Leonard died in a car accident Tuesday on u.s. 119 in Sidney when his cruiser collided with another vehicle.
Leonard was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the other vehicle was flown to the University of Kentucky Medical Center.
Leonard had been on the force three years, all at the Pikeville post.
He was the 24th trooper killed in the line of duty in KSP's 58-year history.
Kentucky State Police say the preliminary investigation revealed that Trooper Leonard was not wearing his seatbelt.
The family has requested that in lieu of flowers donations can be made to the KSP Post Nine "Shop with a Cop" program or to the Trooper Island Camp.
