WC Judge-Executive Looks to 2007

What does the new year look like for Warren County?

We found Judge-Executive Mike Buchanon in his office today, going over his "wish list" for the state legislature.

Many of Warren County's requests for 2007 concern improving water and sewer lines but the county will have to pay for one project itself.

The "Clean Water Act of 1972" forces counties to comply with federal standards but doesn't give them any federal money to pay for it.

"It's something that frankly I don't know where we're gonna get sufficient revenue to cover the increased costs," Buchanon said.

Buchanon also said the county may have to form a special taxing district or add fees to county water bills to pay for phase two of the federally-mandated Storm Water Project in 2007.
