Late last night, a Bowling Green broadcasting pioneer died at the age of 77.

For 39 years, Robert Dean Maggard was a fixture at WLBJ-AM first as an engineer, than as chief engineer, and finally as manager for the Bowling Green radio station.

He also mentored a number of broadcasters who passed through the doors here at WBKO, as well as Commonwealth Broadcasting Executive, Barry Williams.

Visitation for Dean Maggard will be at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home from 2-til-9 p.m. Sunday, and again from 10-to-11 a.m. Monday at Broadway United Methodist Church, where the funeral will take place at 11.

Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

There will also be a Masonic service at 7 o'clock Sunday night at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home, which ironically was the original site of the WLBJ studio.
