The Bowling Green-Warren County Airport gets some federal funding help and is now one step closer to bringing in a airline.

Congressman Brett Guthrie announces the Bowling Green-Warren County Regional Airport is awarded a grant for two-million dollars from the Federal Aviation Administration.

The FAA funds will be used to expand the facility, and the growing aviation needs of Bowling Green and the surrounding area.

The competitively awarded grant will be used to rehabilitate a runway, by overlaying and strengthening the pavement.

The runway overlay is preventive maintenance and was never a safety issue.

The airport hopes to have a contractor and begin the project mid August.
