Bowling Green Firefighters spent hours on the scene of a deadly fire on Barberry Court Thursday evening.
Neighbors tell us Herb and Alice Siewert lived in the house... many of them say they heard screams of distress sometime before 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
Neighbors say Mr. Siewert told them he was in the kitchen when he heard a loud noise from the bedroom. When he got there, it was filled with flames.
They say he then crawled from house to house yelling for help to get his wife out.
Finally, he found a neighbor across the street who was at home... and called 911. By the time the fire department got there, the fire was fully involved.
Neighbors tell us the Siewerts were originally from Ohio, and had moved to Bowling Green just a few years ago to retire. Alice had been a special education teacher in Ohio.
We cannot yet confirm the cause of Thursday's fire.
