Lawmakers' New Projects

There’s confidence among Kentucky lawmakers that $370 million worth of building projects that Governor Fletcher vetoed last year from the two-year budget, will be restored.

House Speaker Jody Richards said House Bill One will restore every vetoed project. Senate President David Williams said the Senate is likely to support the measure.

Richards said a projected $279 million surplus should go into the state’s rainy-day fund until lawmakers take up a new budget in 2008.
